Our First Challenge - The Cup Challenge...

We all worked in teams of four.  We picked up the cups with some string and rubber bands.  We had to stack them into a pyramid.  It was very annoying because people didn't work together.

We we did this challenge with the class no one listened.  I was very frustrated.  We couldn't do it.

Working with our buddies...

Today we visited Rāwhiti QE2 Base. We helped our buddies in Q.9 make their Easter baskets, we listened to them read and we made leaf animals.

Sunflowers Writing Workshop 1

On Friday Ms K brought sunflowers to school and we had a look at them.

We used the five senses: look like, smells like, feels like, taste like and sounds like.  We had to smell the sunflowers, and write down words to describe the sunflowers.

The seeds kept falling off the sunflowers.  The sunflower had a spider on it.

Our Learning Spaces in the Beach House...

This year B.3 made signs for the class.  In the Beach House we have three classrooms.  We are called the Whale pool.  In our classroom we have two quiet rooms.  One is called the Shark's mouth and the other is called the Surf Hut.  We do our art on the sand bar.  All three classrooms do maths and singing together.  In our class we have a door that leads to the Wave room.

Willow, Nikkita, Lily, Ocean and I made the Beach House sign.  Brodie and Jack made the Shark's mouth sign.  Rilee, Matteo and Leyam made the Surf Hut sign.  Bailey made a jelly fish.

Scooter, Run and Swim Triathlon Challenge...

Today all the children challenged themselves to take part in our first Scooter, Run and Swim triathlon.  The children had to be in groups of three with at least one girl in their team.  Each person had to either scooter, run or swim.

This is what we thought....

I like running around the obstacle course when my Mum and cousin came to watch me.  Nabraska

I enjoyed watching the swimming and going on the scooter, I liked going round and round.  Lily

The easiest part was the running.  Leyam

I enjoyed the scootering because it was great racing with other people from the Beach House. William and Riley L

Scootering was the easiest because I was the first person to tag Leyam for the running.  Rilee A

Things we could change next time....

Make the scooter track bigger.  Bailey

We could compete as individuals.  Ms K

We could do 10 laps of the scooter course.  Lily

If You Learned Here...

If you Learned Here is a global collaboration and authoring project. Some of the classes at Rāwhiti School are taking part in this project.  For week 1 it was our turn to make their first video response.

The focus for week one was to record a response using Flipgrid.  Our question was about our school and communities.  We had to answer questions like:  How many children went to Rāwhiti School, what language did we speak and where was Rāwhiti School.

Click here to see the Padlet with some of the schools talking about their buildings.

Click here to watch our Flipgrid response for Week 1.

Making our school sign and getting our script ready...
