A group of students from Papatūānuku were inspired by the story 'Somebody Swallowed Stanley' by Sarah Roberts.
They used ScratchJR to draw pictures of animals from the sea. Then they wrote a programme to make the animals move and share an important message about the ocean.

On Wednesday 14th December we had a Book Day at Rāwhiti School. A group of students helped to organise this event. Thanks to Charlotte J, Olivia C, Freya, Morgan and Violet for all of their hard work behind the scenes.
We had activity grids to complete, face painting, a staff read around and Kahoot quizzes.

Students in Rachel's kaiāwhina group worked with Elizabeth today to explore ScratchJR. Students learnt about the drawling tool in ScratchJR. Our challenge was to draw a Minecraft character. A group of students at Rāwhiti School entered into the Canterbury DigiAwards for 2020. They were finalist in the Year 3 & 4 category. This year there was about 275 entries into the DigiAwards.
This coding group where challenged to create some new coding tasks for students... These students had been learning about Scratch JR for two years and started off using the original ScratchJR Coding Cards to learn how to programme.
They were first place in the Year 3 & 4 category!

At Rāwhiti School we collate a collection of blog posts each week and have 'Blog Posts of the Week.' These are compiled into a Google slide for students and whānau to view.
Sometimes we add to this any quality blog comments we find that are Positive, Thoughtful and Helpful!
